The new facility on Greenbelt Highway in southwest Jefferson County will supply Ford plants, said Ralf Maus, an executive with the company. “I don’t have to speak about all the advantages like customer proximity, mature infrastructure, highly qualified workforce availability, investor-friendly conditions, and things like that,” Maus said during a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday at the new plant.The automotive industry employs more than 100,000 people in Kentucky, said Gov. Andy Beshear, who attended the event.In the last two years, three major new automotive plants or expansions have been announced, including:A $5.8 billion Ford electric vehicle battery plant in Hardin County.An Envision electric vehicle battery plant in Bowling Green.A $460 million expansion at Toyota’s Georgetown plant.”This is going to be a big benefit to Kentucky,” Beshear said. “These big plants we’re announcing are going to bring even more plants in. Lot of excitement ahead.”
