Development of the all-electric 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre continues and shortly after being put through its paces in the French Riviera, testing now continues at the Nurburgring.
While the French Riviera is more of a natural habitat for a vehicle like the Spectre, it doesn’t allow Rolls-Royce to push it to its limits quite like the Nordschleife. The prototype in question is adorned with the same camouflage as other testers spied in recent months.
The British car manufacturer has yet to release details about the Spectre’s powertrain but it will have a very familiar Rolls-Royce design, despite being very different under the skin than any other model to come before it. As such, it will continue to sport a long hood, a sleek roofline, and pillarless doors, meaning it certainly won’t offend existing Rolls-Royce owners.

Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos recently revealed that the Spectre will feel like “a private jet taking off,” while insisting that the brand will not equip it with a Tesla-like ‘Ludicrous’ performance mode. Muller-Otvos added that the Spectre is a natural fit for what the Rolls-Royce brand is all about.
“Feedback so far have always been very positive and I don’t see any negativity against us going electric. It fits quite naturally to Rolls-Royce,” he described in July. “Electrics are silent, they’re torquey, they’re powerful. So as long as it delivers the true Rolls-Royce experience in all dimensions, I am not worried about it.”
While we don’t know specifics about the Spectre’s powertrain, we do know that it has been designed with a coefficient of drag of 0.25 and has a battery pack integrated into the spaceframe and aluminum architecture. It will also sport a so-called ‘Flagbearer’ suspension system that can read what a road surface is like ahead of time and automatically de-couple the anti-roll bar when necessary.
Rolls-Royce will unveil the Spectre next year prior to customer deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of 2023.
